This decorative plate is made by the Crown Staffordshire Porcelain company, known for its great works and innovations in the world of pottery and ceramics. Founded in 1833, the company weathered times and changed hands often, but kept the great quality in its works. The company helped produce goods for the british army during World War II and specialized itself in decorative homegoods after. The company was bought by the Semart Importing Co. but still exists to this day! The blue boy painting by Thomas Gainsborough most probably represents his nephew, Dupont Gainsborough. The particular style by Thomas Gainsbourough is to serve as an hommage to his favorite artist, Anthony Van Dyck. The Blue Boy is considered a classic of British Paintings!
